Error opening file after crash: Format not supported: The doc does not appear to be a valid PSD file

I was a few hours into a project (8k resolution) when the app crashed on me. I reopened the app and tried to reopen the project I was working on but an error message popped up saying, "Format not supported: The document does not appear to be a valid PSD file." I read online that opening a duplicated file with that error message works so I gave it a shot. It worked at first, but then the screen froze and then eventually turned black. I tried to exit out of that file but then I had another error message pop up saying that I needed 0.3 gb of storage space in order to save it which didn't make any sense because I have 37 gb of space. I force quit out of the app and made another duplicate file and eventually after a few hours I had about 8 duplicated files and each file would be as buggy as the last but I didn't know what else to do. I decided to then delete the app and then redownload it but when I did, all of my duplicates were deleted, except for the original file. Before all of this happened, I shared the file with someone so that they could see my progress. Could that be the reason why all of the files were corrupt?

I have just had a similar issue with my file, and i tried everything, but nothing has worked. I got in contact with support and the guy couldn't help and said to get in touch with a senior person through here to help me out with it. i have worked on that project for a while now and all of a sudden the app crashes and when i restart it and open it again it gives me the error of "format not supported" "the document does not appear to be a valid PSD file" but all the other files i had before seem to work fine. can someone please help me and ASAP.

i have tried viewing in photoshop on my laptop through my cloud but it doesnt open, it appears on my cloud but wont open. i tried to make a copy of it but it gives me the same error and when i try to export it it doesnt work.

Hello @moyosabha,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind reverting to an earlier version of the cloud document (https://adobe.ly/4m0wmYy) to see if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am having the same problem with Fresco refusing to open a file. It didn't crash. It just won't open this particular file. This happened to me a few months ago and then stopped. Now it's started again.

I'm fearful of trying to open any of the hundreds of files I have.

I tried duplicating the file. No luck.

I tried changing access. No luck.

this problem has been going on for years given all the people with the same problem.

what gives? These files represent thousands of hours of work.

What do I do?
Nicola

Hello @Nicola24896800kqk1,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind trying to download your work from the Cloud Documents website (https://adobe.ly/3TXd77v) or Files-Your Files in the Creative Cloud Desktop app and then opening the PSD file in Fresco to check if it helps?

If the problem persists, kindly share a link to the file you're having trouble with by following the steps shared above by Anshul so that we can check it on our end.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
