Fresco crashes on launch, windows 10

I installed Fresco a few days ago and it worked just fine. I opened it yesterday and it crashes whenever switching to the oil brush. I uninstalled and reinstalled and made sure my graphic drivers were up to date. Now it crashes on launch. It seems this is happening to a few others and there isn't a solution. I have tried the ctrl+alt+R in Creative Cloud, uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my system, uninstalling then restarting then reinstalling, I have disabled in-game overlays, and it does the exact same thing. It opens, it says "loading documents" then closes. I know my system exceeds the requirements but I'll share my specs in case it helps. I have a Ryzen 5 3600, RX 5700 XT Red Devil, 64GB of RAM, Windows 10 (latest version) and a Wacom Cintiq Pro 24. Every other Adobe app works just fine, it is only Fresco that crashes. I can also share my logs if that helps, I'm just not sure how to share the ZXP file. It is incredibly frustrating to pay for the product every month and not even be able to open it.

Hello @madnessgraphicspoland@jzoeth,

Thank you for your patience. Our team has recently released a newer version of Fresco 4.7 that may help solve the issues you're experiencing. Could you please try updating to the latest version and let us know if it improves your situation?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi Anubhav, thank you for the information, version 4.7 has actually appeared and it works! At last. Interestingly, it updated itself (again) without my interference and despite the lack of settings with automatic updating enabled (other applications politely wait for it to decide). Thank you for finding and fixing the bug.

hi to everyone

i just found what causing the program to crash at startup and solved it

ok i have a program a monitoring program for video games called FPS monitor and it was running in background

i use this program for checking FPS status and cpu gpu temperature.

what i did is simple just closed it from the taskbar menu right

if you have similar software that do monitoring and whatever kind of monitoring that runs on background try to close it

and see if its help.

i had similar problem like this in the past with microsoft games for example like forza horizon and gears 4 and 5

while running this monitoring software and it was keeping crash at startup.

i advice and recommend to adobe team to put fresco directory outside windowsapp storage or to give it option for the user where to install on the it drive like photoshop or other software.

Same problem here. I just installed Fresco, and launched it. It opened, showing a "loading documents" message. After that it crashed. No error report, nothing - it just closed. I went through the solutions here, and none of them worked. I'm using a Windows 10 System with an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Radeon RX 5500 XT (8 GB), 16 GB of RAM. Fresco 2.5.0 is installed on my primary SSD with 330 GB of free disk space. The Creative Cloud application is on version 5.4.5.550 .

Edit:
It keeps crashing. I launched it about 10 times, trying different things, but it always closes right after showing the "loading documents" message.

Same happening to me. For some reason this program completely eats my CPU and crashes my computer so bad I have to shut down and restart it. I tried uninstalling games (total bummer) and refreshing everything but it just kills my computer no matter what. I use a Surface Pro 6, everything is up to date, and I've only had this computer for about 3 years and nothing has given me problems like this. To be frank I can't afford a big PC and a drawing tablet so I just think I'm gonna switch programs. It's frustrating as all get out because I enjoyed using it but it just isn't working anymore. I thought adobe was better than this but I guess not.
All the adobe products in my computer are glorified memory wasters at this point and if it can't be resolved then I just can't use it anymore.

I'm having the same problem. Fresco crashes whenever I use the smudge tool. Or sometimes the tool the doesnt work no matter what I do and then it crashes. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and all the solutions mentioned above. None of it works. Pls help.

Hi there,

I'm so sorry to hear this.

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the app once on your device?

Also, please check the free space on your device. If it is low, you'll need to free up some memory on your device.

Regards,

Sheena

Like I've said, I've already done this and multiple other options. There is plenty of space, that is not the issue.

I'm having the same issue with the app on the iPad Pro. Whenever I try opening the app it just crashes and closes, instantly.
