Question

Fresco destroys animations and turns them into non-editable layers

Help! My animations in Fresco get destroyed once I save the file. They are all collapsed into a big mess and the message says "your Photoshop layers are preserved" - and read-only. I have updated everything and closed/reloaded and whatnot - nothing helps. The files are just rubbish after this happens. What can I do??? Fresco as an app seems to be suddenly broken, breaking my work in the process! Please HELP!!

I found a resolution myself - unfortunately, nobody from Customer Care helped me with this issue.
I got investigative and analyzed the parameters of "canvas size" as this seemed to be the difference between good and bad cases. This is what I found.
(1) it seems to have to do with canvas size. First, I emptied my cloud storage to make room for new data and exclude limited space as a root cause. this led to some files being stored WITH intact animations, others still failed to keep the animations intact.
(2) the fresco app seems to be unable to handle sizing information in centimeters. whenever I had a size stored that said e.g. 7.6 x 14.1 cm (approx. the sizing of an instagram reel), the animations got lost when the file was stored and re-opened. The layers got flattened into one big entagled mess.
(3) I changed the sizing to "pixels" - 900 x 1720 pixels. NOW IT SEEMS TO WORK.
Hence, should somebody else also face this issue, try to experiment with the measure unit of canvas size. Try out pixels, that seems to be the format that works fine.

Hello @rb_fra,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind checking if Fresco behaves this way with new files as well? Also, try reverting to an older version of the Cloud Document () you're having trouble with and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Anubhav, yes, it is doing this with new files, and it seems to do it with new files only. I tried with a copy of an older file, and there it seems to be fine. For the older file, I tried (a) to change an existing animation ==> works fine. (b) Adding a new animation layer ==> works fine.

I sense there has been an update to the app recently, maybe around one or two weeks ago? Any animation I do since then gets crushed once I close and re-open the file. I tried with frame-by-frame animaitons and with path animations, both don't work. I have tried whether it could be the masking - no, it crashes with or without layer masking.

So my take on this is: There was a certain point in time (one to two weeks ago), and all files created after that get crushed when saving/re-opening.

Please help. Thank you.
