Fresco glitches

I illustrate for work and normally have no problem with fresco apart from the occasional crash, but today I started a new drawing after being on holiday and found that nothing was drawing. The pen tracking is fine but nothing is happening when I try to draw in vector or pixel. I installed the update hoping it would fix things but it did not, it worked for a minute but it was giving a velocity taper line when I was on normal rounded brush. I restarted hoping that would fix it but now I'm getting nothing at all again when I try to draw. 
I work with and Intel Nuc and XP-PEN Pro all less than a year old.
