Question

Fresco tools take exponentially more time per action. I can fill 50 surfaces with color per picture

Hi, I have Fresco with the full subscription for private users on the iPad Pro 12.9 1TB and I still have a grear problem with the speed of the app. If I draw more complex images with many different surfaces (vector), the app takes "exponentially" longer to fill an surface with color. With the first 50 surfaces everything is still very very quick, but from 50 surfaces onwards, filling surfaces with colors takes a very long time. From 200 different surfaces onwards, the app takes minutes to load per small color surface. If you work on newer* images at the same time, everything works in comparison like in the beginning. It's similar with copy and paste. Fresco takes exponentially longer per action.

Is there a way I can fill in complicated pictures with lots of small surfaces, e.g. the scales of a fish, with colors without having to wait longer and longer per action?

Hello @Mnchsjoch4108m,

Would you mind confirming the exact iPad model, the version of the OS installed, and a small screen recording of the problem, so I can better assist you?

Okay. 12.9, 1TB, Gen5, IOS 18.3.1. Please excuse. New example. I painted a small mandala\star with 6 sections and copied it using copy and paste layer. Saving this image takes almost 30 minutes. Moving a layer group or switching between projects is not possible anymore. Because of the long saving time, I wanted to uninstall and reinstall Fresco just to be able to open a new project. Waited two days.. Completing the project with a few more "+" plus symbols is presumably not possible.

it's about fine details.

Thanks for sharing the details and screenshot. I completely understand how frustrating it must be when something that should be quick and seamless starts slowing down your workflow—especially for intricate projects like mandalas.

From what you’re describing, it seems like Fresco is struggling with handling large numbers of vector surfaces, which could be causing the exponential lag you’re experiencing. To help us get to the root of the issue, would you be able to share a sample file where you’re noticing the slowdown? If possible, try performing an action that triggers the lag (like filling a surface or copying/pasting a section) so we can test the same workflow on our end and debug what’s causing the performance drop.

We look forward to hearing back from you and appreciate your patience while we work through this!

Best,
