Question

Help with my Fresco PDF once I move to Illustrator

I have exported my vector illustration as a PDF and opened it in Illustrator. The problem then is that there are way too many paths. For example, there is a woman in a blue dress. It is all one shade of blue. Rather than it being one vector block in illustrator, it is about 6. The black outline on the illustration is split into little fragments.

Is there something I should be doing in Fresco before I export the file, or something I can do in Illustrator once I import it to make the color blocks into separate, complete objects?

Thank you!

Cynthia

Did you create the blue dress as a single item in Fresco?
It definitely should all be appearing as one if you did.

I think the export to PDF slightly changes the objects so we don't necessarily get what we expect from a Fresco Vector image opened in Illustrator.

Are you able to use either the Pathfinder or Shapebuilder tool in Illustrator to combine the objects which should be a single object for your image?

Ok, so I think I figured out what I did wrong, or how to fix it.

After moving the image to Illustrator, I resaved it as an AI file, and then I did a 16 color image trace and expanded it, and that solved my problem.

Thank you!
