how do i draw on top of the drawing aid?

I've added a drawing aid but I cannot figure out how to draw on top of it. I can't figure out how to lock it so that it stops trying to resize/move the aid. I've tried switching to different brushes and layers, and unselecting the resize button underneath the drawing, but no matter what I do it keeps selecting the shape instead of drawing.

For future reference if you keep having this happen.

Did you notice if there was a black action panel with a selection square underneath while it wasn't working for you? If you tap that panel you will either select the drawing aid so you can move/resize it. or deselect so you can draw around the shape.

um nevermind, i'm not sure how, but i got it to work.
