How to copy and paste in animations

I was making an animation and i realized that copy and pasting the subject would be a lot easier than re-drawing it over and over, but it won't let me paste something as a motion layer?!? Any way to fix this or  am i just doomed to hand draw it every single frame?!

you can duplicate the frame and just modify from the duplicated frame. if you put the onion skin on, you can see what you are doing. Or at least if you want to redraw, you got a reference to do so

You can also use "copy frame" and "paste frame" from there

Unfortunately, that doesn't help if you've already created the new frame and realize that you need to copy something over from the previous frame.  I need to be able to select something from one frame, copy it, and paste it into a new frame.

One trick that worked for me was to take the frame I already drew, select motion in the bottom right hand corner, click the plus button to add new frames until the layer has just as many frames as the other layer, and then drag the frame in question to the same number as the number on the other layer where you wish to put your frame you have completed already.
