I cannot download brushes from the discover brush section nor import them.

I started using Fresco on my PC about two weeks ago for a project. At first, everything was working well, and I made a lot of progress using several downloaded brush packs from the Discover Brushes section, including the Mega Pack and Gouache set.

Yesterday, when I opened the app to continue working, I realized that my downloaded brush packs had disappeared from my library. That was inconvenient, but I assumed I could simply download them again. Unfortunately, that has not worked. I spent hours trying to redownload them, and even left the packs “downloading” overnight, but nothing actually downloaded. On the Discover Brushes page, the packs just continuously say “adding in progress” with no change. And if you click done, thinking they’re downloading in the background, when you click back to the discover section to check, they just give you the option to “add” them again.

I have tried everything I can think of: restarting my computer, restarting Fresco, restarting Creative Cloud, and uninstalling and reinstalling both Creative Cloud and Fresco. I also went into my computer’s AppData/Roaming/Adobe folder to adjust the security settings for the Creative Cloud Libraries folder and update permissions, then restarted both my computer and Fresco, but that still did not fix the issue.

I also tried downloading the .abr brush pack files directly from the Adobe website and importing them into Fresco using the Import Brushes option, but that only led to the error message: “Error importing files: Adobe Fresco did not find any usable brushes in the selected file.”

I found posts on the Fresco subreddit suggesting that this was a known issue about a year ago and that the developers were aware of it at the time. At this point, I feel like I have tried everything and I am not sure what else to do.

I fixed it! I literally struggled with this forever, so I’m sharing the only thing that worked for me, thanks to Reddit user dutchmocha:

“I was having this issue myself where Fresco's in app "Add Brush" seems to freeze or go endlessly while attempting to add brushes via the "Discover Brushes" button. Specifically, I was trying to add Kyle Webster's Mega Pack. The solution I found has to do with the Adobe Libraries not synching.  Note: I am working on a Windows desktop with a tablet, but this should work on any system since it seems to be a CC issue and not specifically a Fresco issue. What I did:

    1.      Opened the Creative Cloud app on your desktop.
    2.      Checked the Cloud Activity icon that's shaped like a cloud on the top right of the CC  app, next to the account icon.
    3.      There was red alert status that said something like "libraries not synching". It also gave a link:

    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/troubleshoot/library-and-file-management-issues/error-access-library-panel.html

    4. I went down the list of possible solutions and ended up clearing the creative cloud library cache by following the "Corrupted Libray Cache" instructions located further down the page

    5. After restarting I checked the CC app Files>Your Libraries folder located on the left-hand side of the app. Some of the packs I had attempted to download appeared as downloaded and another started to download. Note: the download and library synch took a LOOONG time even on a very fast connection. You can check the status by hitting the same "cloud activity" button as in step 2.

I opened Fresco and the Kyle Webster Brush packs were installed and accessible.

This might not work universally but hopefully it helps someone. Cheers!”
