Question

Layering in pencil tool creates low quality

I like the pencil tool.

It's pixal based and each time I merge layers I loose quality!

What to do?

I want to make pencil drawings for an illustrated book.

Hi @Mops mops,

It's great that you enjoy using the pencil tool in Fresco for your illustrations. If you're experiencing a loss in quality when merging layers, there are a few things you can consider:

  • Ensure that your canvas size and resolution/ ppi are set to an appropriate level for an illustrated book. Higher resolution settings will generally result in better quality.

  • When exporting your final artwork, make sure you choose a high-quality file format (such as PDF or PSD).

  • Instead of merging layers directly, you might want to try exporting your layers as separate files and then combining them in another software (like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator) to maintain the individual layer quality.

  • Check the settings of the pencil tool to ensure that the brush size and other parameters are suitable for the level of detail you need.

If the issue persists, please share a screen recording demonstrating the issue, and we will check with the product team.

Remember that maintaining high-quality illustrations for print requires careful consideration of settings, resolutions, and export formats. I hope these suggestions help, and if you have further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask!

Best,

Thanks,

This is very helpful.

I think maintaining layers and uploading them in Photoshop is a good idea.
