Layers disappearing or clearing - bug or glitch??

Hi! I’m really sad because I’ve been working hard on a project and partway through I turned on a watercolor live brush and then the app glitched (everything froze while the layers flickered a bit). I (thought I) saved it then quit the app, only to find that when I opened it again everything I had done for the last two hours was gone. But the layers were still there, just empty. It seems others have had a similar issue and it hasn’t been fixed in years.

I tried quitting and reopening, looking at version history (the versions from the last two hours are blank), and deleting and reinstalling the app. 
 

please help and fix this bug! I want my hard work back :(
