Question

Please add color management on Export

Please add the ability to Export from Fresco with a colour managed file i.e. a file with an embedded ICC colour profile.

At present exported files use the RGB colour model but are not tagged with any specific ICC colour profile. When such files are opened in another application the colour is almost guaranteed to change as, as without that ICC profile reference, the pixel values could represent almost anything. The same values look completely different in sRGB, Adobe RGB and ProPhoto which are all RGB working spaces.

On opening and untagged file, other applications either treat untagged images as sRGB (common in browsers) or apply the currently application working space which could be sRGB, Adobe RGB, ProPhoto etc (this happens in Photoshop).

The way to get back the colour as seen in Fresco is, in Photoshop, assign the monitor profile for the device in which the image was made, then convert to a standard RGB working space (e.g. sRGB). All this could be avoided if on Export, Fresco carried out the conversion to a standard RGB colour space (e.g. sRGB or Adobe RGB) then embedded the profile in the exported file. This is standard practice when exporting from Photoshop etc.

I am impressed by the simplicity of using Fresco and the ability to mix Vector and Pixel painting. A colour managed Export process would mean that others could see the output in the same way.

YESS! I have my monitor properly calibrated and everything in Photoshop/Illustrator/etc look great. I typically do all of my artwork in Fresco on the iPad and then hop over to the desktop to open the desktop version of Fresco so I can open the files in Illustrator (don't even get me started on the option to open in AI from Fresco via the iPad NOT working.) When I open Fresco on the desktop, the colors are a lot different. Whether I export from there or open in Illustrator before exporting, the exports look more like they do on my iPad, and the colors are correct. But the desktop version of Fresco is not the same. I spent forever making sure it wasn't something on my end (calibration, ICC profiles, color working space, RGB vs CMYK, etc) and the only place it's not right is within Fresco on the desktop. Thank God it's close enough between the iPad itself and other Adobe programs on the desktop. I'd go insane if I had to recolor everything once I got to the desktop.

Side note: Being able to export from Fresco WITHOUT the artboard would be super. I rarely want individual elements to have the full artboard upon exporting (which is why I open in Ai and export from there.)
