Saving a selection

Hello,

Does anyone know if it's possible to save a selection so you don't have to redraw it? For example, let's say I have a sketch of a house and I want to paint the roof so I use the selection to add color in just that area. Once I'm done coloring, how do I save that selection so I don't have to redraw in case I need to make some changes?

Keep in mind:

• The color inside feature won't work because the sketch includes tapered broken lines.
• The shape of the roof is more complicated that a typical 4 lines drawing of a roof so redrawing selection would be time consuming.

I'd appreciate any help!
