Question

Simple function of moving and grouping layers on Fresco iPad no longer possible.

Have been using Adobe Fresco on the iPad for years without a problem. Now experiencing problems moving and grouping layers.

With the Layers Panel accessed, I usually tap and hold the layer I want to move and drag it to the desired position in the layer stack. Alternatively, to group, I hold the layer and drag it to the group or layer to be grouped with.

This simple and fundamental function no longer works for me. Tapping and holding the layer highlights the layer I want to move but it won't move and just jumps back to it's starting position. Grouping doesn't work either.

I have recently updated to iOS26 and wonder if there is an issue here. Is anyone else experiencing this? I have tried re-installing the app but this has made no difference.

Frustrating as I can't complete any projects without this core function and will need to find an alternative in the meantime.

Has anyone found a solution yet? It was working before the most recent update

Hello @ArtofAurora

I’m sorry to hear you’re having similar trouble with Fresco. Could you confirm the version of the iPadOS/Fresco installed and share a brief screen recording of the problem, so we can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Im having this issue on a new iPad air 2026. The workaround of using ‘select multiple’ isn’t helping either. Did you ever figure out a solution? No updates available for app or device so not sure what to do

I was just looking for an answer to this and was having a play around - I just figured out that if you select the layer you want to move and then click "select multiple", you can then press and hold on the layer you want and drag it to reorder it. You can also place it onto another layer to group them.

But this only works when within the "select multiple" menu - you don't have to select multiple for this to work. Hope that helps!

I reinstalled Fresco and opened an older file. Then it worked.

I'm on an iPad Pro 11" M4 running iOS 18.6.2, and I can confirm the layer rearranging and grouping still works the same for me.

Hope this helps you find the problem. That's a major issue. 😞

Thanks for your input. I'm running iOS 26.0.1 on iPad Air (3rd generation). I only updated iOS in the past couple of weeks so I suspect this is the cause. The fact that you're still ok on an earlier iOS adds some weight to that theory.
