Question

Transform tool area oversized

I've been using Fresco since it was released. It changed my life, giving me a way to get out of my head illustrations I could only dream about until then. I attended the latest Adobe MAX online. I continue to be amazed and so excited about the new features rolling out. Which leads to this request regarding the Transform tool and fixing what is broke. In the early releases, if I chose something to transform, the boundaries of the Transform area matched the content I was transforming. So to get at the edges to resize or the handle to rotate was close to that content. Somewhere along the way, the transform tool had an update that totally changed that. From that time on, the Transform area does not seem to relate to its content, most times being way oversized so that I have to back out of my closeup and struggle to adjust the sizing - and especially the rotation - since I am so far away from the content I am working on. Can this be fixed, please? While I am it, when will the time come for us to be able to type in numbers for the rotation and sizing? I look forward to these features. Thank you for all you give with this medium!

Anshul_Saini, This is SUCH an inconvenience when I am working in my files that I will find the time to somehow document it and show it to you, but I cannot believe I am the only one this happens to - that it doesn't happen to you. It's been well over a year, so I can't give you the version it started in. It certainly is possible that it is device-specific (I use a Lenovo Yogi 7a). I will try and send some way of demonstrating it to you by the end of December. Thanks for at least tuning into me. tmsr

In trying to figure out how to demo this for you, I had no way to capture it on my Lenovo, so I used Snagit to capture it in Fresco on my HP-Pavillion laptop (see attached). Lo and behold, neither the pixel-filled layer nor the vector-filled layer showed this issue.
---
SO, I installed Snagit on my Lenovo, opened the same file I had started in Fresco on my Lenovo - and sure enough, the issue demonstrates - although it happened with the pixel layer, not the vector layer. It still happens when both layers are Transformed at the same time... (see attached).

It is a huge time-waster for me, including having to answer the question that comes up with it each time about cutting off the off-canvas parts (when there aren't any).

But apparently, it is device-specific.

I'm not sure if other graphic cards (would it be that in this case?) have issues, but please review the attached. I named them to start with the On-Lenovo vs. On-HP-Pavillion.
---------------------------
Here is the Lenovo's Configuration:
Device name Lenovo-Yoga-730
YOGA-730-130IKB
Processor   Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz   2.00 GHz
Installed RAM     8.00 GB (7.82 GB usable)
(I removed the rest of that information - let me know if I can provide it outside of this forum - I did send all of this in an email.)
Edition     Windows 11 Home
Version     22H2
Installed on      ‎10/‎16/‎2023
OS build    22621.2861
Serial number     MP1P2BCY
Experience  Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22681.1000.0
-------------------------
Two more things to note.
  • As I had said in my opening post, before about a year ago, this never happened on my Lenovo.
  • You can see that my current configuration has Windows 11/Home. I only made the change to Windows 11 on October 16, 2023, so it isn't related to that install.
What are your thoughts about this problem?
After I emailed all of this to you, I got an auto-response saying I said this is Solved -?? Can you UN-solve it and please provide feedback on my discoveries here?

Hi @tmsrDD,

Thank you for your heartfelt message and your continuous support for Adobe Fresco. We truly appreciate your dedication and enthusiasm.

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're facing with the Transform tool area. To better assist you and address this concern, could you provide some additional information?

  • Screenshots or Recordings: If possible, could you share screenshots or recordings of the old behavior you mentioned where the Transform area matched the content? This will help us understand the specific changes and assist in resolving the issue.

  • Timeline of the Issue: Can you recall when this change occurred or in which version of Adobe Fresco you first noticed the oversized Transform area? Any additional details about when it was working fine and when it started having this problem would be valuable.

  • Typing Numbers for Rotation and Sizing: Your suggestion about being able to type in numbers for rotation and sizing is noted. While I can't provide a specific timeline for new features, I'll ensure your feedback reaches the appropriate team for consideration.

Once we have more details, we can investigate the issue further and work towards a resolution. Your feedback is crucial in helping us improve Adobe Fresco.

Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini
