Trying Out Fresco’s Live Brushes — Super Impressed!

Hey everyone!

So I finally took some time to dive into Adobe Fresco, and WOW — the Live Brushes are seriously impressive. I’ve been mostly using Photoshop and Illustrator for my digital work, but I was curious to try a more natural, paint-like experience. Fresco really surprised me!

Here’s what stood out:

The watercolor brushes actually bleed and blend like real paint. I was working on a quick landscape sketch just to test them out, and the way the colors flowed into each other felt so organic. You can even control how much water is in the brush — that’s next-level for a digital tool!

The oil brushes were also really fun. You can layer them and they get that thick, textured look — kind of like actual brushstrokes on canvas. I tried them on my iPad with Apple Pencil and it felt super responsive.

A couple things I’m still figuring out:

  • Is there a way to lock brush settings so I don’t accidentally change size/flow when switching brushes?

  • Also, curious how others are using Fresco in a professional workflow. Do you export to Photoshop or Illustrator after finishing, or just keep everything in Fresco?

Would love to hear how more experienced users are using it — especially for character design or concept art. I’m still exploring but it’s been a great addition to my creative toolkit so far.

Cheers
