Question

Why can't I use the "place image" tool or add .png files in any way other than copy/pasting?

When use the “place image” tool and select a normal .png file from my existing files, the window closes and nothing is added. When I use the camera feature, it works fine.

When I click and drag an image into the program through my files, nothing happens. It does not create an image layer. Nothing happens.

The only way I can add images to Fresco is by copy/pasting them in, which loses any transparent qualities of the image and is not preferable.

This has been the case for my program for years. This feature has never worked through countless reinstalls, updates, and troubleshooting. I finally am throwing the towel in and asking for help.

    Hi @CrowleyHaworth,

Sorry to hear you've been experiencing this issue for so long. To help us investigate, could you please confirm whether you're using Fresco on an iPad or Windows, along with your exact Fresco version?

Also, please let us know if this happens with all PNG files or only certain ones, whether they're stored locally or experiencing this with cloud storage files as well, and if it also occurs in a brand-new Fresco document. If possible, try importing a JPG, PSD, and a PNG exported from another application to see if the issue is limited to PNGs. Finally, a short screen recording showing the Place Image workflow, selecting the PNG, the dialog closing, and no image being inserted would be very helpful.

    Looking forward to your update.
