Why do I get kicked off one layer and sent to different one?

I am using only pixel layers. Yet I indicate I want to draw on one layer, The layer is outlined in blue, and when I try to draw the program shifts me to a different layer. I can only draw on the original layer by deleting the layer fresco seems to prefer. Solution?

Fresco used to create a new layer if you changed brush types, some such as pixel, watercolor and oil can now work on the same layer. If you choose Vector this will still create and jump to a new layer.
If you are only using Pixel brushes they should definitely all be able to be used on one layer as far as I'm aware. Which device are you working on?
