​@Impressive_introvert3550 Although I am using a MAC, so your Control is my Command, and it works for me. Sometimes corrupt Illustrator Preferences can happen as per ​@Ton Frederiks mentions. 

Keyboard shortcut, Control K for your Preferences  or Illustrator - Settings - General
 

At the bottom is ‘Reset Preferences’ - this should do the trick, unless, it’s so bad, that you might need to do a manual removal of the preferences (let us know if this solves it first), as I always cringe when removing things from a PC (A MAC is more forgiving if you delete certain files vs PC, for me it’s been a nightmare!)

Under Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts, you could create your own Custom Shortcuts. Because I use InDesign, and placing an image is Command D (MAC), I overwrite the one in Illustrator with Command D too

Did you try to reset your Preferences? You can also check if another application or utility interferes with the keyboard.
