Hi everyone, I am trying to figure out why my free transform tool has these bizarre scaling handles that do not transform in the traditional way. Thank you!

I have a MacBook Pro M4 Pro, and since version 29.8.2, Illustrator always crashes when I open it. Only Illustrator crashes—nothing else. I thought the problem might be the popup/modal that displays the latest product features, but it seems that's not the issue.I don't know what to do since it seems I'm not the only one having this problem, and yet Adobe isn't doing their job to update the program without bugs and crashes.

Dear Adobe Team and fellow creatives, I just wanted to throw this out there: it's 2025, and we still don't have native support for Adobe Creative Cloud on Linux. I know it's been requested for years, but I really believe there's a growing need for it now more than ever. As a design student who uses Linux daily, it's incredibly frustrating having to jump through hoops—like using Wine, virtual machines, or switching OS—just to run apps like Photoshop or Illustrator. These workarounds often break, lag, or simply aren’t reliable for professional work. I know supporting another platform is no small task, but just look around—Linux is everywhere. Designers, developers, and students alike are choosing it for its flexibility, privacy, and speed. There’s a whole creative community here that would gladly pay for native Adobe tools on Linux. Hi, I don't know if there's already a thread about this, but after the latest update to Illustrator 2026, the search bar in my cloud documents disappeared (File - open - Cloud documents). I have a lot of similar documents, and for years I've been naming them according to keywords so I can quickly find older documents. Am I just looking in the wrong place, or is there a way to request that the search bar be brought back?

For a while now, I've been experiencing some issues with Illustrator's customizations that I wasn't used to, but which are now completely unusable.For example, if I want to create a square, the grid alignment process restricts me to certain locations on the grid, making it incredibly difficult to position it where I want. Even once the square is created, I can't adjust it by dragging, for example; I have to manually adjust the width and length. These kinds of issues are incredibly annoying, but I don't understand how they were changed or how I can reverse them.Hopefully, someone understands my problem and will help me!

I have just opened Illustrator 30.2.0 to get this home page:You can see that the LH side is missing several objects.The Recent grid view is filled with errors (while the list view seems to work).I then clicked on Open, opened a PDF file and, after briefly seeing the main interface with the single-page PDF in it, Illustrator crashed.I relaunched Illustrator but there was no crash reporting dialogue.I tried to open the PDF again and managed to perform a couple of edits (edit artboard > A3 > resize image to fit the artboard). Illustrator asked if I wanted to Save changes before quitting (but I had not asked it to quit). I pressed Save and Illustrator quit. What can I do?macOS 26.2.1 on Apple Silicon M3 Max.

I can’t place Illustrator files into Indesign – the artwork appears distorted with elements overlaying and ghosting that isn’t there in the Illustrator file itself.The same distorted image appears when previewing the Illustrator file in finder – so the fault is with Illustrator not Indesign.It can happen with a large document or with one artboard with one object. Sometimes you can resolve by deleting and pasting the items back, other times you have to give up on that file completely. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’ve had this work killing bug for months across multiple versions and it’s impacting my job.

Meu PC é um VivoBook X512FBC que adquiri em 2021 onde eu já utilizava o Photoshop e o Illustrator, ambas as suas versões do ano de 2021. Após uma atualização no Creative Cloud, adquiri a versão 30.0 do Illustrator que seria do ano de 2026, porém eu reparei que ele não era compatível com as configurações da minha máquina, precisando então voltar à versão de 2021. O problema é que esta versão não está mais disponível no Creative Cloud, a versão mais antiga é a 29.0 (2025), mas ao utilizar, meu PC apresentou uma certa instabilidade devido ao processamento do programa. Fui aconselhado à entrar em contato com o suporte da Adobe, mas nenhum dos agentes estava disponível quando eu precisei. Como eu adquiro novamente a versão antiga para que eu possa continuar usando o Illustrator?

Hi There, II’m having an issue with a big file worked on ai. and saved as a pdf.When we want to open the file again in ai. the have the error message: “Illustrator could read partially this file,. We recovered as much of the file as possible, but some content might be missing. Open to view the recovered file.”Then if we click on “Open”, the file become an image, and all of our layers, lines are flatten ->so not workable anymore. Do you from where this error can come? Thanks a lot for your help. 

I need to transform a lot of dashed (single) lines into separate lines... Who can tell me how to do this in a few clicks. I don't need an outline of the dashed line. So the black dashes I need, the white in between the dashes I want to loose.A little complicated to explain... See the example. I need the second lines.Kind regards, Ellen

I have a bug/issue on curviligne Text / text on path or curve.   After designing and saving the Illustrator file, everything seems normal. Once I reopen the Illustrator file, then the text that has been placed on a curve (Type on a Path) disappears.   This has happened in different working files of mine.

On Windows 11 and Mac Tahoe.In the average 8 hour day, Illustrator crashes on me 8-12 times. I lose about 30 minutes to an hour of work everyday. No specific error, sometimes I get the error report screen, sometimes not. Sometimes it recovers, sometimes not. I even have Astute Saviour installed to help stay on top of saving, but since Illustrator won’t auto save while a group is isolated to edit it, then I can be editing within a group for 15 minutes without an autosave, and then I just lose it all and have to start over. Constantly throughout the day. Why not let it save while in a group, why does it kick me out of the group when I save? This feels like an easy fix and more of a secure way to make sure autosaves actually happen.I have grown to absolutely despise Illustrator.Photoshop almost never crashes on me. In Illustrator (most recent up to date version), I did a shortcut and accidentally turned my workspace to white.  I went to preferences ->user interface ->brightness and changed the color.  It changes the interface except for the workspace color, it remains white. However; if I open a new document it does change to the appropriate color.  I just don't want to copy and paste all my work to a new document.  This happened at work on a PC. When I brought the file home I opened it on a IMAC with the same issue. 

Just updated to 29.8.1 and I can no longer copy and paste a vector direct from Illustrator into PowerPoint. I can normally just grab an illustration from Illustrator and copy/paste into PPT, but since the update it's pasting nothing. I'm on Windows 11 and have tried copying from different Illustrator files and also tried restarting computer but still the same. Perhaps someone could have a go and see if this is working for them or not. Thanks

I've been doing this same exact process for over a dedace without any problems whatsoever. Suddenly, today I keep getting an error message saying that Adobe Illustrator is "unable to export the following files". I'm just trying to run a batch export to SVG on 24 artboards containing very simple logos. What changed? This has never een an issue before...

So I frequently need to batch export a number of various artboards to JPGs for web use. The maximum size that the files can be is 100kb, and while some of the artboards are small (and really should be exported at maximum quality so that they don't get too pixelated), some of the artboards are larger and need to be imported at about 40% quality. Up until now I have been manually adjusting the quality of each of the files in order to remain within 100kb, but I'm wondering if there is any sort of script out there that can help me with this. Any ideas?

If it's available, where can I find the Illustrator UXP API documentation? I can find docs for Photoshop (require('photoshop')) and InDesign (require('indesign')), but nothing for Illustrator (require('illustrator')). Hey all,Got a question. I’ve been drawing in Illustrator since the 1980’s, but am not up-to-speed on creating custom strokes, as I rarely ever have a need for them. Anyway, I currently have 78 floor plans to draw and more them half of them have this really funky/curvy balcony/terrace wall that is a bear to draw, and slowing me way down on getting these things cranked out. What I am wondering is if there is a way to create a custom stroke so that I can draw this wall with one vector line? This outer Terrace wall is what I am talking about…...and I’d also love to figure out a way to easily draw the curvy WINDOW wall with it’s little custom-placed sectional dividers if that’s possible. If you all can give me step-by-step advice that would be great. I normally would just draw these things without worry, but I have 78 of them to do and I need a quicker way of drawing these walls.
