150px grid, 3px stroke icon - Snapping to a pixel grid, advice

Question

Hi, I've been given a load of icons to look at from a designer who's chosen a 150px grid and 3px stroke. A couple of things before I start. I'm redrawing some of the lines as they are off a pixel grid (stroke), which is fine, but one of the requests is to outline the path on completion. The problem is due to the stroke being 3px; the points will now come off the grid due to the point being 1.5px on either side. Should I push the stroke to 'outside' or 'inside' before I outline? Should the stroke really be an even number? Just getting some tips beforehand.

Assuming that each icon is supposed to be contained within whole pixels and maybe fitting into the 150 pixel grid, and that the lines form part of closed paths, I believe that it is best to:

1) Align strokes to outside,

2) Adjust wherever necessary, and

3) Outline.

Always keep a backup of artwork that is going to be irreversibly changed, such as stroked paths to be outlined.
