2024 mac illustrator v 28.3 opens old photoshop 2023

In Illustrator (v 28.3), after importing a Photoshop tif or psd, when I attempt to use Illustrator's command to edit in the original program, Illustrator opens Photoshop 2023 instead of the DEFAULT 2024. 

 

I could not delete photoshop 2023 to test, as deletion is admin rights only, which I do not have.

 

Since this is the latest version of Illustrator, there is no upgrade. Older fixes to 2022 versions don't apply to the new version.

Did you check Preferences > File Handling > Use System Defaults for "Edit Original" ?
