26.4.1 & 26.5 Illustrator Crashing All the Time...History Panel?

Illustrator was performing the best it had in years before the 26.4.1 release!  I LOVE having the History panel, but I have a feeling it is the culperate for the constant crashing.

 

My Illustrator will start to lose capability of drawing the tool parameters on top, side, and pulled out tabs when I mouse over them and then I know it's about to crash...and it usually does.  Not even usually doing anything that crazy or working in a complex line art file.  This has been happening 2-4 times a work day since I updated to 26.4.1 and then got even worse with 26.5.

 

Any one else having this happen?

Hi @Fastsigns.465 @Anshul_Saini in my case the issue was solved with the last update v.27.

We always knew that was an illustrator issue.

I know several people who are having the same issue with 26.5 and Illustrator is crashing multiple times a day.

I was having issues with 26.4.1 and I had posted about it in this community. It would crash and be unresponsive. I have checked back to see if 26.5 fixed this, but appears it is not fixed!

Hi @Emac_trademark, @curious777,

 

I am sorry for the delayed response. Would you mind trying the steps in order to check if that helps or not:

  • Uninstall the Illustrator using the CC Cleaner tool
  • Reset Illustrator preferences manually.
  • Rename the CEP folder to CEP.old from the following location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe
  • Rename the extensions folder to extensions.old in the following location:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\UXP
  • Reinstall Illustrator from the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

Please follow the steps in order and share your observation with us.

Thanks for finally getting back to this query.  If I do all that you suggest, does that mean it will be like wiping my computer of my current Illustrator setup?  I have a lot of customization to my illustrator setup and do not want to have to set everything up again from scratch.

 

Don't know if it helps, but I attached a .txt doc of the System Info from Performance tab in Preferences.

 

To reiterate, this problem started after the update to 26.4.1, so is there not a patch / bug update on the horizon that might fix this problem?  I am currently running 26.5 version.

If it doesn't help, would you mind sharing a few details like:

  • The exact version/ build no of the operating system?
  • Please submit the crash report by following the steps suggested here (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html).
    While submitting the crash report, please use the same email address with which you are signed in on this community. This will help us find the crash report, and we can assist you accordingly.

Went through the "fix common crash" article, nothing there applies and/or everything checked out as fine or compatible. Below are computer and Windows specs.

 

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

 

Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎8/‎5/‎2021
OS build 19044.1889
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0

 

I will try and get a screen shot of what I'm talking about the next time it happens.

BTW, I cannot submit a crash report when this happens as the report window does not come up when it crashes.  Just shuts down and I have to re-launch app.

Since 26.4.1 I´m facing issues too. Crashed all the time and it is impossible save the work some times because the windows seens blank.
