3D gets stuck in render mode...

When using the 3D function, illustrator gets stuck in render mode. If I want to manipulate an object, it has to be re-rendered at each new step. The "Render with Ray Tracing" toggle does not switch back to edit mode. Does anyone have an idea what this could be and how to fix it?

Hello @bavo.vanhecke,

We're sorry you're having trouble with 3D rendering in Illustrator. To help you with this, could you please try reinstalling the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting Illustrator to use High-Performance Graphics under Windows Settings? If this doesn't work, please provide us with more information about the GPU(s) installed on your computer so that we can look into the issue further.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Anubhav

What version of windows are you using? Does this happen on all shapes, what happens if you try a simple primary shape like a rectangle? Have you tried restarting and making this the first thing you attempt?

Which version are you using? If 27.3, update to 27.3.1

How much RAM is installed on your computer?

I'm using version 27.3.1 and there's 16GB RAM installed on my PC, that should be enough I assume? I even re-installed Illustrator but the problem stayed.

16 GB is at the lower end for 3D, so if you have to wait for complex renderings, that would be expected. Does that happen with simple objects and simple materials as well?

How is your color management set up?
