Added “Noise” filter in Photoshop Displays Badley in Illustrator

When I'm adding a noise filter to a layer in Photoshop, when I place the file in Illustrator, the noise looks exagerated or pixilated -- see attached screenshots. The noise simulates a textured surface. It's for a tradshow booth background -- it appears to print OK on my printer, but it's making it very difficult to work with. It's happening too on larger areas where I need to overlay type, and I can't show clients PDF's or screen shots of works in progress.

Hi. I just tried embedding the image -- and that fixed it! It will be monstrous file, but I don't think that will be a problem. Out of curiosity, my option for "GPU" display is grayed out -- if that makes any difference.

Do you see a difference between linked and embedded files? And does the GPU/CPU Preview mode change the display?

Good to hear that helped. 

If you have a windows based computer, you may want to check for video card driver updates.

I try to avoid using raster effects in Illustrator, but when I do I make sure that my Effects >> Document Raster Effects Setting --> gets set to 300dpi if going to print., of if I need a finer more detailed effect.

 

If that makes Illustrator run slower you can do at the end, and do your edits in 72dpi.
