Adding Fonts when you have a font file

I am working off of Adobe Illustrator for iPad, the instructions say if I have a font file I can replace it by pressing the "+" in the Properties > Fonts > Your Fonts but there isn't a plus there. I have the Font File but I can't add it. Is there a solution to this?
