Adjusting Leading for 'Type On a Path" Settings of Ascender or Descender

Hi,

I'm trying to adjust the leading of text on a path to be further down than the "Ascender" position provides. I used CorelDraw at my previous job, and you are able to just grab the text and adjust the leading to your liking when it is on a path. This really doesn't matter for perfectly straight or circular paths because there are ways around doing that, however, this path is a curvy line and I would have to adjust the path itself to make it look right. Is there no way to take the settings any further than just "ascender," "descender" or "baseline"?

Thanks!
