Question

Adobe Illustrator 2026 crashes every 5 minutes. Tried everything.

Every I try to launch illustrator it crashes roughly 4min 25sec in. I’ve been trying to fix it all day, and so far nothing has worked. Version 2026, Windows 10, Desktop pc.

Things I have tried:

  • Reinstalling Illustrator.
  • Updating my graphics drivers.
  • Resetting my preferences.
  • Clearing my font cache.
  • Disabling GPU performance preference.
  • Disabling Save in Background preference.
  • Disabling Enable Wacom preference.
  • Deleting all of my 3rd party fonts.

Genuinely not sure what else to do at this point. Considering canceling my sub and moving to a different service. Seems like the only option at this point. :(

@curious_Elixir81b4 It crashes every 4min 25sec in? Are you able to share the crash report? This may help @Anubhav M more: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/desktop/troubleshoot/application-crash-issues/share-crash-reports-with-adobe.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Solved this after experiencing on two different laptops for 6 months and trying most of the things you have (it’s none of them).

Firstly, confirm where the crash is coming from… whether via Illustrator itself or external app/process. Do this by opening Windows Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application… you’ll likely see an error for every time Illustrator crashed with more details within.

    Fix…

    1. Open Windows Defender Firewall
    2. Advanced Settings
    3. Outbound Rules
    4. Click New Rule > Program (Next) > Find the program path for the .exe (the one in the crash log)  i.e %ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2026\Support Files\Contents\Windows\Illustrator.exe (Next) > Block the connection (Next) > Check box of Domain, Private, and Public (Next) > Give it a name and click Finish.

    Problem solved.

The official troubleshooting steps are these, try them in order: 1. Start Illustrator. If Illustrator detects a file that is corrupt or causes errors, re-launch Illustrator on Windows. 2. Choose Run Diagnostics to switch Illustrator to Safe Mode. 3. Do not interrupt the diagnostics; this step may repeat for each crash-inducing file that Illustrator finds. 4. When Illustrator starts, check the Safe Mode dialog list of plug-ins, fonts, or drivers. 5. Click a row in the list, check the Troubleshooting Tips area, and follow the tips provided: replace a font, update a plug-in, or uninstall the error-causing items. 6. If you believe the error has been fixed, select the checkbox for each row, click Enable on Re-launch, save your work, and restart Illustrator. Alternatively, click Close in the Safe Mode dialog to continue running in Safe Mode. Official doc: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/safe-mode-illustrator-diagnostic-startup-tests.html
