Adobe Illustrator 30.7 |  8, 2026  | Windows Pro 11

An error massage every time open the file:
“An error occurred trying to read the linked file “***.jpg”. Choose Replace to select another file or Ignore to leave the link unchanged.
Replace | Ignore | Cancel”

I linked jpg image under the clipping mask. Saved. Open the Illustrator file. Get error: "An error occurred trying to read the linked file “***.jpg”. Choose Replace to select another file or Ignore to leave the link unchanged.
Replace | Ignore | Cancel"

I choose "Ignore", and what I see is the 1 huge, unscaled image above the clipping group plus 2 scaled images within the clipping group, (3 links in total).
If I delete 1 huge, unscaled image above and 1 scaled image within the clipping group, save, and open again, everything repeats - 3 links in total.
Also, if I scale only an image within the clipping group, it shows SVG processing.

    Hello @bioverseasb51613435

That does seem strange. Could you try copying the objects/layers to a new file, a few at a time, and then checking if the problem persists there as well?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I tried many different things, including renaming files, relinking the images, and resaving the document, but nothing worked. Eventually, I got tired of troubleshooting and simply embedded the linked image, which solved the problem.
I hoped the recent update to version 30.8.1 would fix it, but I encountered the same error again. I don’t want to spend my whole life dealing with Adobe’s bugs. I still have many other labels to create, so I’ll see whether the problem continues to occur in other files.

P.S. I also deleted my old versions and custom settings while updating the software too.
