Adobe Illustrator causes Windows UI double-trigger / ghost input until reboot

Hello Adobe Team,

I am facing an issue where Adobe Illustrator causes Windows UI behavior to malfunction after some time of usage.

Problem description:
While working in Adobe Illustrator, Windows starts registering duplicate UI actions system-wide.

Examples:

Minimizing a window causes it to minimize, reappear briefly, then minimize again

Start Menu opens, closes, and opens again

Taskbar and Explorer UI behave as if inputs are triggered twice

This issue affects the entire operating system, not just Illustrator.

Important observation:

Restarting the PC temporarily resolves the issue

The issue only occurs after working in Adobe Illustrator

The problem does NOT occur when Illustrator is not used

System details:

OS: Windows (10 / 11)

Adobe Illustrator version: 30.1(64 bit)

GPU: [NVIDIA 3060]

Display refresh rate: 144Hz

Input devices: Standard mouse and keyboard (no tablet)

This issue impacts productivity significantly, as it forces frequent system restarts during professional design work.

Thank you,
Prasadh Kasturi

Hello @38742029,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind trying to run Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and checking if it helps? Also, try performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU(s) drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/3L5Q6O0) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
