Adobe illustrator CC - editing text content is slow

Hi all,

I have been using illustrator to design a employee handbook for a client, and it has text content going upto 44 pages, in a A4 paper. Text is in all pages, every time i try to edit the text, like paragraph alignment, give tab for bullet points, change color, change font size etc., it's slow, illustrator freezes for 1-2 seconds and then i have to continue to edit texts.

My time is getting wasted in doing this, an hour of work takes 3-4 hours to get things done.

Anyone else facing this issue and any solution for the above please?

Illustrator is not built for editing 44 pages of text. Even editing 3 pages full of text will slow down your computer. For that many pages, you'd be best off using InDesign. However, seeing that you already have designed it in Illustrator, one trick you can do is create 44 different layers. The idea here is to put each entire page content into each layer. Once you have that accomplished, you can hide all the layers you don't need to edit and just work on one layer at a time.
