Question

Adobe Illustrator did not save the current state in a file

A few times I had the problem that Adobe Illustrator did not save the current state in a file. Even though I actively clicked save and closed the file and the program without any problems or warnings. At first I thought it was the file, but it happens to me in other files as well. This is incredibly annoying. At one point I had problems with the internet. Could it be that Adobe does not save files when there is no internet reception?

Is "Save in background" turned on in the preferences. If so, try and turn it off.

Unfortunately, this did not help. Quite the opposite!
I have lost another file with a lot of illustrations.

2 weeks ago I copied a file and saved it under a different name. Since then I have changed it a few times and saved it again. Everything was fine and the file was always saving.
Until my program crashed.

Although I have changed some things in the file in the last weeks, it is now suddenly back to the state of 2 weeks ago! All illustrations and changes are completely gone!

Where do you save your files?

Did the file save while crashing? This might damage files. And it might also damage the preferences. Did you reset the preferences?

Do you reboot the computer regularly?
