Adobe illustrator export to pdf is blank

I just had this problem. Saved as PDF and all blank. Tried everything. Reopened the Illustrator file and saw a small red plus sign over some of the type (as if type was clipped which it was not). I selected and deleted that whatever it was and it was fine after that. It was not there when I had edited the file and nothing was added there. I went back to the original file I had copied to this folder from last year (untouched) and it was also in that file! Which worked fine last year!!!

Look for anomalies, select all and see if anything shows up.

The only way I was able to get around this was by printing the PDF rather than exporting it or saving it. I selected “Adobe PDF” as the printer, then selected “Visible Layers” under the Print Layers option in the General dialogue box.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I can export as a PNG fine, but not PDF. Did you find a solution? Thanks

Check if you have artwork that is outside the artboard. Make sure there are no hidden layers or unprintable layers (check Layers panel to make sure layers are set to print).

Try using File > Save As instead of Export.

It is possible that the file is corrupt. If so, copy the contents to a new file and try again.

Exactly how are you exporting and where are you saving the file?

WHat’s in the file?

Which Version is it?

Hi ​@esther0708, do you have multiple artboards? Perhaps it’s showing another artboard first..? Also, just to troubleshoot, maybe try “save as” rather than export?
