I am having major issues with illustrator. My computer battery is shot and this morning the power adapter came unplugged causing computer to die instantly, when I plugged it in and started it back up my illustrator opened back up with restored files but the screen was frozen, couldn't do anything, I forced quit it and tried to reopen and the same thing, I have uninstalled and reinstalled, checked that everything is up to date still same problem. I have ran the cc cleaner tool and that also isn't fixing the issue. I have no idea what to do or what else could be causing this issue. I have tried my other adobe products (photoshop and InDesign) and they all seem to work fine.

Hi @kimh17383208,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with Adobe Illustrator. To help you further, I'll need some additional information:

  • Could you provide your computer's specifications, including the CPU, RAM, and GPU (make and model)? Also, please mention your computer manufacturer and model.
  • Which version of Adobe Illustrator are you using, and what operating system (OS) are you on?
  • Did you make any recent changes or updates to your computer, especially right before Illustrator started acting up?
  • Are you using any antivirus program? If yes, it might be interfering with Illustrator. Temporarily disable your antivirus and check if it helps.
  • Sometimes, issues can be related to cloud syncing or license checks. Try running Illustrator with no internet connection to see if it makes a difference, and let us know so we can further investigate the issue.

Also, right-click on the Illustrator shortcut and select "Run as administrator." This can help in case of permission-related issues. Let us know if it works.

This information could help identify the potential cause of the issue.

Once you provide these details, we can better troubleshoot the problem and find a solution.

Best,

I would suggest checking for any updates for the graphics card or chipset in your computer. It's also worth running some disc clean-up and optimization operations after an unexpected power failure.
