Adobe Illustrator Opening File Crashes

I was wondering if anyone could help me solve this problem I'm having. I don't know why but every time I try to open up compressed zip files Illustrator keeps crashing. However, I can start a new file just fine. I've tried disabling my GPU and it still dosen't work. If anyone could get back to me and solve this problem, i'd be forever grateful.
