Adobe is MESSED UP!!!

I am a student in college and I used Illustrator for my graphic design class. I really enjoyed using it at the time, now I'm coming across other projects in other classes where using Illustrator would so benefical for my GPA. However Adobe is forcing a subscription to use Illustrator and they are not offering a one time fee. I do not need the extra stuff that comes with the subscription I just want to use Illustrator. Does anybody koow another program that is a lot like Illustrator for a one time fee? I wish Illustrator had it I would buy it in a heart beat.
