Question

Adobe Library palette keeps freezing

When I'm working in a file and have my Library palette open, things are good for about 5-10min. Then the Library palette freezes and I can't open or close any of the folders I have in the Library. Same thing happens if I close a file and then reopen any file after about 5-10min.

I have reset preferences, signed out and back in the cloud, and uninstalled and reinstalled the app. This also is happening with Photoshop but I'm more concerened with Illustrator since I use that every day.

Can anyone help me with this situation - it started about a week ago. Thank you!

I'm having the same problem, it is constantly freezing and won't let me click on any of the buttons within libraries, very frustrating when you are working on different projects at the same time withing illustrator. Hurry up and fix this Adobe.

Hello @gillians91716749,

That does sound troubling. Could you confirm the version of the OS/Illustrator installed on your computer and if this happens when accessing a certain feature/file on the libraries panel, so I can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Anubhav,

Thanks for your response.

My version of OS is Sequoia 15.5

Illustrator version v28.7.8

It happens if I have maybe been working in illustrator for a while, then I simply can’t change libraries, or even click any of the buttons within libraries as they don’t respond, it not an internet problem either. To resolve it I must quit illustrator and restart.

I hope this is of help.

Hello @phijahn9,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Could you confirm the version of the OS/Illustrator installed and share a small screen recording of the problem, so I can better assist you? Also, kindly try the suggestions shared earlier and let us know if they help.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello Anubhav,

It's the latest version of Illustrator (29,7,1) .

I could send you a screenshot, but it won't be of much use to you since my library is frozen on the last one I opened. I can't go back to choose another library or select an item from this open library.

The only solution I have found is to shut down Illustrator and restart it, but this is extremely tedious and wastes a lot of time... especially since the problem reappears after a short period of use.

I hope a solution will be found soon.

Thanks to you

Hello @defaultt6tf0xmtjv9m,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Could you confirm the version of the OS/Illustrator installed, and check if you have any VPN/Firewall/Antivirus enabled, so I can better assist you?

Also, try the suggestions shared above to reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application, CC Library, and CoreSync (https://adobe.ly/3ZiMhca), and run Illustrator under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello @Aber5D9A,

Would you mind trying the following steps and checking if it helps:

  • Close all Adobe applications
  • Remove the Creative Cloud Desktop application, CCLibrary, and CoreSync using the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool (https://adobe.ly/4mkYJCc)
  • Reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application (https://adobe.ly/43fQrCS)
  • Relaunch Illustrator

If the problem persists, try running Illustrator under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and sharing your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi @Aber5D9A,

No, you won't lose any of the Libraries you've built. Your Creative Cloud Libraries are synced with your Adobe account, so they're safely stored in the cloud and will remain intact even if you use the Cleaner Tool or reinstall the apps.

Once you've gone through the steps Anubhav suggested, please let us know if the issue with the Library palette freezing still persists in Illustrator. If it does, it would be really helpful to know your operating system version and whether the freeze happens only in certain files or all files. A small screen recording showing the behavior would also help us better understand and escalate if needed.

Looking forward to your update!
