Since the latest Illustrator update, I have been unable to copy an object from one layer and paste it into another layer.

Check if the Paste Remembers Layers option is turned on in the Layers panel flyout menu.

You can turn the option off and try again.

When you say 'latest update', could you confirm if you mean version 29.7.1? It would also help to know the version of your operating system. Could you walk me through exactly what happens when you try to paste into another layer? For example, does nothing happen, does it paste into the same layer, or does it behave differently than expected? This will help me better understand the scenario.

Atualizei para a versão 29.7.1 do Illustrator no meu Windows 11 há quatro dias.
Quando copio qualquer objeto de uma camada e seleciono outra camada para colá-lo, o objeto é colado na mesma camada em vez da camada selecionada!
