After updating Illustrator v30.7 yesterday, the recolor tool is not working correctly.

When using the recolor tool, regardless of which swatch group I choose, it is not finding a close match, it is changing the colors to greyscale.  The document is CMYK color mode. This started doing this after the most recent update.

Version 30.8 seems to have corrected this issue. At least on the my test files from earlier.

Thank you, Brad, for checking and confirming the issue is resolved with the 30.8 version. Please let us know if the issue reappears, and we will be happy to check with the product team.

    Thanks,

Assuming you are running the beta for 30.8, when is the public release of 30.8?

I’m experiencing the same issue! version updated 30.7

The only way I’ve been able to get around this issue is by first going to my Swatches window, using the Select All Unused, I delete all the unused Swatches. Then I have to add the color swatches I need to the Swatch window. After that, I open the Recolor Artwork window and select the Color Reduction Options. From there, under Limit To Library, I select Document Swatches

Hopefully, they’ll get this fixed so I don’t have to use this work around.

I’m also having this issue. We’re in the middle of a rebrand, so I’m keen for a fix as soon as possible. So glad to hear its not just me having issues.

I’m also experiencing this issue. Only getting grays when trying to recolor artwork to a color library.

Hi - We’re already experiencing the same issue with the Update 30.7. The ‘Recolor Artwork’ feature is only showing a 50% Grayscale and not producing any color matched result.

It’s not working in colormode CMYK/RGB.

I work with for other designers, and none of them have this issue…. just me :(
we are all working off the same version of illustrator (fully updated 30.7)

We have several pantone swatch books that all work for them

In my 30.7 this is still happening.

Are you sure that they are on 30.7?

Has there been any progress on fixing this issue?

There is currently an issue that affects all color books and cause the artwork to turn grey.

Needs to be fixed in the software.
