Can anyone please tell me why I'm receiving this error in Ai 2023 (v 27.9) for MAC? What does it mean an/or how do I fix it?!

Hello @GPL_liberta,

The error message you're encountering in Adobe Illustrator 2023 (version 27.9) for macOS suggests that there is an issue with the "BriKernel" plugin. This plugin is related to the Color Engine in Adobe Illustrator. It could be due to one of the following reasons:

  • Missing or Corrupted Plugin: The BriKernel plugin may be missing or corrupted, preventing the Color Engine from functioning correctly.

  • Outdated Plugin: The installed BriKernel plugin might be an older version that is incompatible with your current version of Adobe Illustrator.

Here are some steps to help you address this issue:

  • Update Adobe Illustrator: Ensure you're using the latest version of Adobe Illustrator. If you're not on the most recent version, please update to latest version 28.0.

  • Reinstall Adobe Illustrator: If the issue persists, you might consider uninstalling and then reinstalling Adobe Illustrator. This can sometimes help resolve persistent issues.

Remember to back up your work and preferences before making significant changes or reinstalling software. This can help you recover your settings and work if necessary.

I hope this information helps you address the error you're experiencing. If you need more assistance or have further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards,

I have the same problem, but can't upgrade to newer AI, since my ESCO plugin doesn't accept AI 2024, but AI 2021, 2022 or 2023.
