Question

AI Cloud File auto save TURNED ON but the file is NOT AUTO SAVED when Illustrator crashed

For not losing my work progress, I saved my AI file to Adobe Cloud as .AIC. I turned on Auto Save Cloud Document and set it to save every 5 minutes. I did a lot of work yesterday in this .AIC document. Today morning my AI crashed. I tried to recover the LATEST change and I supposed to see the LATEST version of it. But in the Cloud file recovery I can only see the oldest version!!!!

Adobe why you are doing this, I chose Cloud saving because I expected it can auto save my progress like Figma. But you guys did a really bad job. I hope your engineers can fix this.

I will never save my files to Adobe Cloud again. This is so disappointing.

Another broken feature.

My Internet is rock solid. The settings are all correct. The project is not at all complex. Even local autosave is currently broken, with the AI just creating a load of useless '.aishm' files that cannot be opened. Only solution at the moment is to set a timer to remind you to save your progress every few minutes, because AI autosave/recovery is currently bust.

There is no "local autosave".

There is a recovery function, which is not the same.

Apart from that: if a crash happens while saving, then the file is most probably toast in any case. So while all these things should be used and turned on, the only thing that is safe is saving files often and making additional backup copies. No system ever will reliably save your files automatically.

Hi @Frank27260521t3rp,

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the auto-save feature in Adobe Illustrator for Cloud Document. We understand how frustrating it can be to lose progress on your work.

We assure you that our engineers are constantly working to improve the auto-save feature and make it more reliable. We recommend checking that your internet connection is stable and strong, which could affect the auto-save functionality. However, in some rare cases, complex or large-size files take longer than expected to back up to Cloud, which could be the case here. For complex file, file recovery when saving locally get disabled most of the time in order to prioritize the performance of the app.

While we understand your frustration, we hope that you'll give our auto-save feature another chance in the future. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are always here to help and improve your experience with our products.

Thank you for sharing your feedback & experience. I will pass it along to the engineering team.

Best,

Anshul Saini
