Question

.Ai file doesn't open, options for text import, but no text in file.

Hi,

Recently, I transferred all my .Ai files from my external harddisk to my laptop. Now, I can't open any of these files. When I try to open the file, illustrator shows the screen for ''options for text import'', but my files don't contain any text at all. When I click OK, I only get to see an empty canvas. How can I solve this problem? I'm using Adobe CC.

    HI Tessa,

Sorry to hear about this issue. Can you please copy one of those files back to the desktop and let us know if that works?

    Regards,

    Unfortunately, this didn't work.

Software is not a hardware problem.

I've had a similar situation. Physical HDDs may not allow the document to be moved for possible failures.

The condition for SSD disks is 4 or 5 years. Use the archive system near these time-outs.

Because of this problem, I completely switched to Adobe Cloud.

Did that external drive have issues?

Exactly how did you transfer it?

Can you open the file from your external drive?

No, I have the same problem while opening it from my external drive.

Whenever that dialog pops up it means the files have at least issues, but most of the times  are damaged beyond repair.
