AI generating blank PNG files

Hello guys,

Not sure if anyone encountered this issue, where the A.I will randomly generate 0 bytes png files with sequential numbers as file names. Attached is a sample screenshot of it.

The AI version is up to date and user is just working on the .ai file and didn't export the file out to png format.

Appreciate for any resolution to it.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. This behavior is really unusual. Do you see this behavior while working on a specific file? Have you tried resetting preferences? If not, please try doing that & let us know if it helps. Please share version Illustrator as well. We'll be happy to help.

Thank you for the response. We have just tried resetting the preferences and will update if it happens again.

Is it happening on all files, a select few, or just one?

I'm assuming this is not affecting your work flow or anything with the AI/PDF file? (This is just a wtf Illustrator question!).

Also, assuming it's just this doc, does it have 26 artboards or 26 placed images?

Do you have auto save, and auto back-up turned on?

Hi Thanks for the response.
It's not happening on all files it happens to a random few.

And the files it generated was more than just 26 as in the screenshot, it's about 1K so it isn't possible that it has so many images or artboards for this artwork.

Auto save and back up is turned on.
