ai Illustrator CC 0217 > open ai file via Bridge > error message: “AIGPUSNiffer quit unexpectedly”

My computer:

Mac Pro 10.10.5 (Yosemite)

Installed Ai CC 2017_Dec 11 2016

Next day, I opened an Illustrator file via the Bridge.

I got error message: “AIGPUSNiffer quit unexpectedly”

What the heck is AIGPUSNiffer????

After much to do and some google searches.

I found the bug and fixed. (Apple forum - dating back to mid 2015)

    Solution:

    Go to Bridge Preference> File Type Associations>Illustrator (.ai,.ait)

    (Adobe Default was AIGPUSniffer)

    Browse>change to Adobe Illustrator CC 0217

    I reported as Bug to Adobe.

    So if this happens to you, this fixed it.

    Can’t blame that one on Apple.

    Wish Adobe would fix their bugs before shipping.

    Oh, one more thing, hated Illustrator CC 0217 > File > New

    (Fluff, extraneous, nonsense) window.

    To niche that:

    I went to Illustrator Preferences > General > (checked) Use legacy “File New” interface.
