AI inward shape curve help

Hi,
I am new to AI and I have been trying to achieve something like in AN or Flash where you pull/curve the shape inward and it disappears. How do I go about this?

    Maybe something like...

    With a shape, after drawing select the pen tool and hold alt when over the stroke and you will see the cursor change to a curve tool, then click on the stroke and pull the way you want it..?

    We'll need you to start by describing the shape. Circle, square, rectangle? and what do you mean by pulling it inward?
