AI is missing a font - but it's installed!

I'm trying to open a PDF file in AI and get this error message:

"The font Frutiger45Light is missing. Affected text will be displayed using a substitute font."

Then I installed the font but still getting the same message (even after a reboot).

Installer name:

Frutiger-Light.otf

If I double-click the font in Windows font folder it says:

Frutiger 45 Light

Version 001.001

OpenType Layout

So why doesn't AI recognize the font?

Thanks in advance!

AI CS6, WIN10 64bit

    uuhh... lot of work

Actually there are small but noticeable differences between the original font and the substituted font.

    * The original one is 1 pixel lower and the curves are a little bit different.

    * It seems like the old one is a tiny little bit vertically compressed compared to the new one.

    * and in some places a little wider than the new one

Would it make a difference if I try to find and install the original TrueType font instead of the OpenType which I use now for substitution?

And what means CID in Type: TrueType (CID)

    Thanks again!

Is this a PDF file that contains an AI part?

Or has it been saved from a different application?

Does this file originate from a Mac?

What kind of font is it? An OTF font?

Do you use the same font that has been used by the person who created the PDF?

And then: when creating a PDF, fonts might get renamed or at least their name altered.

So you might just need to bite the bullet and assign your font.

    Thanks for the answer!

    I investigated a little more:

If I open the PDF in Acrobat Pro (>Document Properties >Fonts) it says:

    Frutiger45Light (Embedded Subset)

    Type: TrueType (CID)

    Encoding: Identity-H

So in the PDF it's a TrueType fonts and installed is a OpenType...

Is this the reason why AI doesn't recognize the font?

    What can I do?
