Align to pixel grid still blurry

Guys, when I align objects to the pixel grid they still appear blurry. I already know about object-level pixel alignment and I've checked all that.

To make sure the objects are in fact aligned I view the document in Pixel Preview and everything is crisp... when I turn that off the objects go right back to being blurry, even though it's aligned to the pixel grid.

Any ideas?

This sounds like it may be an issue with GPU preview. Can you try Preview on CPU?

    Which version?

Are you zoomed in at 100%?

When is that artwork blurry? After exporting? On screen?

    Which preview mode?

    What kind of artwork?

    Please show screenshots.

    Which version?

    Illustrator CC 2017

Are you zoomed in at 100%?

    Yes

When is that artwork blurry? After exporting? On screen?

    On screen. Exports are crisp.

    Which preview mode?

Pixel Preview shows the work the intended way with everything snapped to the grid. With no specific view selected the elements are blurry.

    What kind of artwork?

Vector lines at whole pixels (1px, 2px etc.)

The image below is snapped to pixel grid with 1 px line. (this shouldn't be blurry)

The image below is the exact same and is snapped to pixel grid with Pixel Preview turned on.
