Align to Selection Automatically Selected after using Artboard tool

Since installing the most recent 2017 CC Illustrator, I've been unable to get Illustrator set to align to artboard on the align tool. I will set align to artboard on the align panel, but then if I select the artboard tool at all, everything immediately switches back to align to selection.

I recently refreshed my Macbook Pro from factory settings and did a fresh install of Illustrator, and I think I remember this issue happening before the new install, but I can't be certain. It has definitely persisted through restarting the computer/application.

Any idea how to get everything to just stay on align to artboard at least after initially selecting it?

I haven't got a clue what I'm doing with this prerelease build.  I'm having the same issue with the "Align to Selection" always being selected.  Has this fix made it into an Illustrator CC update yet?   If not, when will it be included?

Thanks!

We have a fix for Align to selection issue and is available in the pre-release build. Please visit http://adobe.ly/1Q3rCPI and get the latest build titled Adobe Illustrator CC 22.0.2  - Hot Fix.

This build is of production quality. Please feel free to use / recommend it for your day to day activity.

What OS version are you?

I am not aware this problem started in 2017 only in CC2018.

There is a recent update to CC 2018 that fixes that. Go to you Adobe cloud and update. If you want to keep 2017, then make sure you select to keep old version prior to finalizing the update.

Yeah 2018 is what I meant sorry. I just updated to the most recent CC 2018 Illustrator and the issue is still present.

I'm running macOS High Sierra.
