'Align to Selection' command is not working it is stuck on Artboard. How soon can this be fixed?

Please - this is happening so many times with Illustrator 29.3.1 with Mac Mini Pro M2 Chip OS Sequioa 15.3.2 and 32 GB memory. Does any wise person out there know the solution.
