Aligning corner tiles in a new custom pattern brush?

Hi all, I'm in CS5, trying to make this shape as a custom pattern brush:

So far, this is as close as I can get:

Obviously, this has something to do with the corner tile, but I cannot for the life of me figure it out. Any help would be oh-so-appreciated!

The invisible rectangle is key to this:

Your tiles need to look like this (blue line being an invisible rectangle resp. square behaind all elements)
